Final Presentation Formatting Notes

PLEASE try to keep your presentation down to ten minutes in length. Also, during questions, try to answer them parsimoniously (completely, but without "running on"). In the past there have been instances in which the questions ended up taking longer than the original presentation, because the presenter ran off on tangents, or didn't understand the question, or even tried to cover that they didn't have any coherent answer. Pleas try not to fall into that trap!

More tips: PRACTICE YOUR PRESENTATION! Make it look professional. Dress up nicely in business-like attire. Practice what you will say in front of a mirror or with family or roommates. Do an "elevator speech" in which you get all the salient points across in the time it takes for an elevator ride. DON'T READ YOUR SLIDES! Know what you are going to say without having to look at all the bullets or words on your presentation/poster — speak from your head and knowledge, not from the slides. THE AUDIENCE CAN READ THE SLIDES; YOU should be "telling the story" of your project!

The outline of the presentation is as follows:

  1. slide 1 — Title slide
  2. slide 2 — Purpose of project
  3. slide 3 — Project goals
  4. slide 4 — Project description
  5. slide 5 — Project planning
  6. slide 6 — Agile method 1
  7. slide 7 — Agile method 2
  8. slide 8 — Demonstration
  9. slide 9 — Project challenges 1
  10. slide 10 — Project challenges 2
  11. slide 11 — Thank you and questions
